1. Can I get a copy of a city ordinance?: Copies of City Ordinances may be obtained from the City Clerk's Office, 602 Main Street, Joplin, MO 64801. Or you may call at (417) 624-0820 ext. 1220.

2. Where can I learn about elections?: For information regarding local, state and federal elections, call the Jasper County Clerk's Office at 625-4390, or the Newton County Clerk’s Office at (417) 659-2910.

3. Can citizens serve on City boards and commissions?: The City of Joplin encourages citizens to serve on its boards and commissions. Citizen participation is an integral part of city government. A complete listing, description and instructions for expressing interest in participation is located in the Boards and Commissions section of this website. If you would like to serve on a board or commission, please call the City Clerk's Office at (417) 624-0820 ext. 220 for an “Expression of Interest Form.”

4. When does City Council meet?: The City Council meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Monday of every month in the Council Chambers, located on the fifth floor of Joplin City Hall, 602 South Main. If Monday is a designated holiday, the meeting will be held at the same time on the next day. To contact any of the City Council, including the Mayor, call the City Clerk’s Office at (417) 624-0820 ext. 1220 or ext. 1221.

5. How can I address the City Council at a future meeting?: You can complete an online form (link below) and submit it by no later than 6 p.m. prior to the meeting you'd like to attend.
