Where is the Thomas Hart Benton mural located?: An exhibit of the Thomas Hart Benton mural titled “Joplin at the Turn of the Century” is located on the main floor of the Joplin City Hall (Newman Building), 602 S. Main Street. It is open for free public viewing from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

9. What are city regulations in regards to fireworks?: For information concerning the sale and discharge of fireworks within City limits, please contact the Joplin Fire Department at (417) 623-0403.

10. Do I have to have a permit for a garage sale?: You are no longer required to obtain a permit for a garage sale, but you must abide by the following rules: Garage sales may occur 2 times a year, for not more than 3 days, and at least 60 days apart. All garage sale signs are required to be removed within one day following the sale and should not be in the public right of way, on power poles, etc. Signs may only be posted in the yard where the sale is being held.
