Do I have to have a permit for a garage sale?: You are no longer required to obtain a permit for a garage sale, but you must abide by the following rules: Garage sales may occur 2 times a year, for not more than 3 days, and at least 60 days apart. All garage sale signs are required to be removed within one day following the sale and should not be in the public right of way, on power poles, etc. Signs may only be posted in the yard where the sale is being held. Do I have to have a permit to have concrete work performed?: Concrete work on city rights-of- way (such as sidewalks, curbs and driveway approaches) must be done by a licensed and bonded contractor and requires a permit and inspection. For permit information, contact the Public Works Department at (417) 624-0820 ext. 533. To obtain a license, call the Finance Department at (417) 624-0820 ext. 242.

5. Do I need a permit to build a driveway?: The placement and construction of a driveway that provides access to and from a City street requires a permit. For questions, or to obtain a permit, call the Public Works Department at (417) 624-0820 ext. 530.

7. Do excavation projects require a permit?: Any excavations in the public right-of-way requires a permit and must be performed by a licensed contractor. To obtain a permit, call the Engineering Division at (417) 624-0820 ext. 530.

8. Should I have my fire plan reviewed?: Fire plan review is a service offered as part of the building permit process for all commercial, business, assembly, industrial, factory, health care, educational, and multi-family residential building or remodeling projects within the City.
