Employees should be given discounts for city owned / operated facilities. If the city can give 50% off to some citizens for pool passes, they should be able to give 50% off to the people that work for them. I know my family would be more likely to purchase a pass if it was discounted, especially given the fact we don't really get raises.

There has to be a better way to time our traffic signals. My example is the one I use most often. The traffic light at 2nd and Main is the worst. The light releasing traffic from 2nd only stays on for a couple of cars then it changes back to give Main St the green and it will not come back to 2nd for a long while. If the car was in line to cross Main and the light turned yellow, there would be a long wait for another green. I have seen this when there was no cross traffic on Main St for the full cycle. This isn't the only light like this in Joplin.

There are a lot of small gaps in non-auto transportation networks (sidewalks, bike lanes, trails) that make them less functional, and in many cases unsafe to use. Many would be relatively inexpensive to fix, and would greatly improve the quality of life, especially for our non-driving residents. Examples include: railroad crossings on multi-use side path along Murphy Boulevard (both north and south of 7th street), pedestrian connection between N Main viaduct and Landreth Park trails, sidewalk along 4th street between Empire Market and Landreth Park, Multi-use trail connecting Missouri Southern to Northpark mall area (all that's missing is a bridge over Turkey creek and a very small connection to Northpark Lane. There are many others.

We need to find a way to clean up Ewert park. It is currently unsafe for kids and children to be at. There are many people under the influence camping at the shelters.
I am not sure what can be done. I have suggested removing the benches under the shelters or removing the shelters altogether.
Maybe simply relocating the playground would help!

if we could E-mail our time sheets that would save paper and the resources it takes to distribute and gather them every two weeks. It may not work for everyone but for some it would.

We feel that if we could spark more volunteering from medical professionals, not just in Joplin, but everywhere human life exists, that it could help ease the friction between health care and the underlying expenses via preventative care.
i.e. We as a team/dental office (32nd Street Dental), are willing to volunteer a few days each year visiting Joplin area schools and/or retirement facilities.
We want those whom can't do much to control their oral health due to their age, are at minimal receiving the basic oral care tools needed. i.e. toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, etc.
Additionally, time is for educating the youth about better health practices, informing all citizens thus as the youth grows older, and starting ASAP we ask the City of Joplin to reach out to us.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
WE BELIEVE IN THE POSITIVE CHANGE THIS CAN MAKE FOR JOPLIN.
WORK WITH US; WE ARE HAPPY TO DO OUR PART TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY.
LETS TALK ABOUT THIS AT YOUR CONVENIENCE. How can we volunteer our time?
