Structure Fire, 3312 S Indiana, Joplin, MO.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 3312 S Indiana, Sunday, 04 May, 2014 at 8:17 PM. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 8:20 PM to find heavy fire coming from the structure. The main body of the fire was in the front living room where it extended into the attic. There was major damage to the living room due to fire, heat, water and smoke.
The fire was declared under control out at 8:43 PM. Crews remained on scene until 10:36 PM.
No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. 7 Joplin Fire units and 17 Joplin Fire personnel responded, as well as JPD and METS. The ARC was called to assist. The home is owned by Mr. Ron Schurman.
The cause of the fire was determined to be improper use of smoking materials.
