Structure Fire, 910 W 9th St., Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Structure fire at 910 W 9th St. at 12:43 this afternoon. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 12:44 to find light smoke coming from the upstairs apartment. The fire was declared under control at 11:46 am. Fire fighters found a gas stove with burners on inside the upstairs apartment. They turned off the stove and ventilated the apartment. Damage was limited to the kitchen cabinets and smoke damage throughout the residence.
The apartment is owned by Rose Selves and occupied by Ryan Lowe. The resident reported he went to lunch and came back to find smoke.
There were no injuries to the owner or fire crews during the incident. 2 Joplin Fire units and 9 Joplin Fire personnel responded.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation
