Flue Fire, 1916 S Harlem, Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Structure Fire at 1916 S Harlem at 7:57 PM Monday evening, December 23, 2013. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 8:02 PM to find light smoke coming from the chimney of the house. Crews extinguished the active fire in the fireplace and then used dry chemical to extinguish the fire in the chimney. A fan was used to vent the smoke from the house. There was no fire damage to house, with light smoke and chemical residue throughout. The flue cap was destroyed.
Crews remained on scene until 8:47 PM.

No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. 6 Joplin Fire units and 18 Joplin Fire personnel responded. JPD and METS stood by if needed.
