Structure Fire, 127 S. Jackson Ave., Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Structure fire at 127 South Jackson Ave. at 11:13 am this morning. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 11:15 hrs. to find light smoke coming from the attic space of the single story residential structure. The fire was declared under control at 11:42 am and declared out at 11:50 am. Fire damage was considered minor in nature and was confined to 6’ x 6’ section of the attic insulation and some electrical wiring with in the attic space.
The home is owned and occupied by Kim Marston who was at home at the time of the fire.
There were no injuries to the owner or fire crews during the incident. 6 Joplin Fire units and 18 Joplin Fire personnel responded.
The cause of the fire was determined to be overcurrent heating of an electrical circuit which was in direct contact with the cellulose insulation.
