[ARCHIVED] Garage Fire 531 N. Moffett

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 531 N. Moffett at 1634 hours Tuesday. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 1636 hours to find heavy smoke and flames coming from an unattached garage facing the alley. Crews had the fire under control at 1649 hours and declared it out at 1711 hours. The garage suffered extensive damage, however fire crews were able to save the family vehicle undamaged.
The house is owned by Sara and David Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson was the only one home at the time of the fire. A jogger knocked on her door and alerted her to the fire.
There were no injuries during the incident. 4 Joplin Fire units and 19 Joplin Fire personnel responded, as well as JPD and METS.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
