Structure Fire, 103 North Wall, Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported Structure fire at 103 North Wall St at 1:26 am Saturday November 16, 2013. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 1:29 am to find heavy fire and smoke conditions from the front of the two story residential apartment structure. Due to the heavy fire and smoke conditions Firefighters rescued one resident from a second story apartment using ladders.
The fire was declared under control at 2:08 am and declared out at 2:55 am. Fire and smoke damage was severe in nature and the building is uninhabitable.
The building is owned by Charles Ziulkowski of rural Joplin and the former single family structure had been converted to four apartments and each apartment was occupied at the time of the fire.
One occupant was injured and they were transported to Freeman Hospital by METS Ambulance, There were no injuries to fire personnel. 6 Joplin Fire units and 21 Joplin Fire personnel responded.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
