On October 12th, 2013 at 0602 hours the Joplin Police Department responded to a one vehicle crash around 2525 W. 20th Street. Officers arrived and found a 2004 Nissan Frontier pickup had left the roadway and struck a parked trailer.

The driver of the vehicle, Eric Bower (17 years old) from Neosho was critically injured in the crash and transported to Freeman West Hospital. The passenger of the vehicle Tyler Bower (19 years old) also of Neosho was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Major Crash Team of the Joplin Police Department. At this time it is not known if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
