The Joplin Police Department has been informed that Julie Lybarger-Johnson succumbed to her injuries sustained from the crash that occurred on October 1st, 2013 at 12th and Range Line. The information was received at approximately 8:30 pm on October 2nd.

The Joplin Police Department continues to follow up on the injury crash that occurred in the area of 12th and Rangeline this morning. The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as Julie Lybarger-Johnson a 46 year old female from Webb City. She is currently at Freeman West hospital and is listed in critical condition. The driver of the passenger car has been identified as Raina McAlister a 39 year old female from Joplin.
The motorcycle was travelling south bound on Rangeline. The passenger vehicle was facing East on 11th and pulled onto Rangeline to go south. The motorcycle then collided with the passenger car.
All lanes of traffic are now open on Rangeline and have been open since approximately 9:30 am. The investigation of the crash is being conducted by the Joplin Police Department’s Major Crash Team. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded to the area of 12th and Range Line this morning at approximately 0701 for a report of an injury crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger car. The motorcycle rider has been transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the passenger car was not injured.
The northbound lanes on Range Line at 12th are closed due to the crash and the ongoing investigation. The southbound lanes have one lane open for traffic. Detours are available in the area. We are asking that motorists avoid this area if at all possible while the investigation is being completed. We anticipate the lane closures to be in place for approximately two hours.
We will provide further updates on this crash as they become available.
The Joplin Police Department crash reconstruction team responded to the scene and will be conducting a reconstruction on the accident.
