On September 27, 2013, officers with the Joplin Police Department were dispatched to West 7th Street Wal-Mart, 2623 West 7th, in reference to a robbery that just occurred. An employee confronted a male who was shoplifting and the male displayed a knife and fled on foot with stolen merchandise.

Officers arrived on the scene and established a perimeter around the area based on witness accounts. A Joplin Police K9 was utilized and tracked the subject hiding in thick brush west of the store. The subject was arrested and the items were recovered.

The suspect is identified as David Price, 51, of Miami, Oklahoma. Price is currently being held in the Joplin City Jail. Charges will be sought for First Degree Robbery and Armed Criminal Action from the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office.
