On September 17, 2013 at approximately 5:55 am the Joplin Police Department received a call for a possible violation of an Ex-Parte and for a theft of the victim’s purse that had occurred at 1301 S. Picher. The suspect, who was identified as John Wright, left the area on foot. Several officers with the Joplin Police Department as well as the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, and the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area to try and locate the suspect. According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was also involved in a stabbing that occurred in Webb City over the weekend.
Officers set up a perimeter in the area and attempted a track with a K9, but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect. Mr. Wright is described as a white male, approximately 508-510 and weighs 160-180 pounds. Mr. Wright also has a probation violation warrant that is active. The Police Department will submit charges later to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office.
