Structure Fire, 3026 W 17th, Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 3026 W 17th. Time of call was 1042 hours on Monday morning, 19 August. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 1046 hours to find a single story wood framed residential structure with smoke coming from the kitchen area. Crews extinguished the fire in the kitchen and ventilated the structure. Crews remained on scene until 1158 Monday morning.
8 Joplin Fire units and 26 Joplin Fire personnel responded, along with the JPD, and METS. There were no injuries on the scene. The house is owned by Brian Schwartz.
The homeowner stated that he was boiling water on the stove and went outside for approximately 10 minutes, returning to find smoke coming from the house. There was heavy fire and smoke and water damage to the kitchen, moderate smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.
