On August 9, 2013 an officer with the Joplin Police Department observed two vehicles driving together and observed both of them make traffic violations. The officer lost sight of the vehicles and was not able to stop the vehicles. Both vehicles were later noticed in the area where officers were on another call. Officers were able to stop both vehicles at approximately 0234 hours. K9 Officer Jimenez was able to stop one of the vehicles while Officer Brown stopped the other vehicle. Officer Jimenez utilized his K9 (Gunner) during the stop and located a meth lab as well as some meth in a liquid form inside of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Joe Shinn, was arrested for manufacturing of a controlled substance.

In the other vehicle Officer Brown along with Officer Bland and K9 Pax, located 3.6 grams of meth and a syringe. Officer Brown arrested Bobby Bowles for possession of a controlled substance. Another bag of meth was located on Mr. Bowles after he was transported to the jail.

It was also determined that the subjects had just manufactured some methamphetamine at 705 W. 17th. Officers then responded to that location and obtained consent to search the residence. At the residence they located additional components of a meth lab and jars of finished meth liquid. Both subjects were arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance.

On August 11, 2013 at 0545 hours, Sgt. Duncan stopped a vehicle at 20th and Main for having illegal tinting on the windows of the vehicle. The driver fled on foot and was stopped in the area as other officers arrived on scene. Officer Jimenez arrived on scene with his K9 partner. The K9 alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted. There were 15 Hydrocodone pills located in the vehicle. Tia Chrisman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A plastic baggie containing meth was also located in her pocket. The driver of the vehicle, Ronall Donham was arrested on 3 Joplin warrants, 6 Newton County warrants, and 2 Jasper County warrants. A passenger of the vehicle, Jerry Logan, gave officers false identification and was arrested for that as well as for 3 Joplin warrants.
