Structure Fire, 2156 E Manitou, Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 2156 E Manitou. Time of call was 0636 hours on Monday morning, 29 July. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 0640 hours to find a single story wood structure with heavy fire showing. Fire crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the house. Crews remained on scene until 0803 hours Monday morning.
6 Joplin Fire units and 22 Joplin Fire personnel responded, along with the JPD, and METS. There were no injuries on the scene. The house is owned by Doug & Claudia Russow of Grove, OK. It was occupied by Linda Smith.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, improper use of a candle.
