Structure Fire, 1608 W 4th St., Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from underneath a house at 1608 W 4th St. Time of call was 1950 hours on Saturday evening, 22 June. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 1952 hours to find a house with smoke coming from inside the structure. Crews found a small area burning against a wall and floor, which had burnt through the sub floor and hardwoods. The fire was extinguished with a water can. Occupants had evacuated before the fire crews arrived. Crews remained on scene until 2021 hours.
6 Joplin Fire units and 18 Joplin Fire personnel responded, along with the JPD, and METS. There were no injuries on the scene. The house is owned by Max Mourglia and rented by John Coverston.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
