Apartment Fire, 410 S Wall, Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a structure fire in an apartment at 410 S. Wall. Time of call was 0733 hours, Sunday morning, 09 June. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 0736 hours to be met by the building occupants who stated there was a fire in an apartment on the third floor. JPD evacuated the building. Crews went to the third floor and found heavy smoke and moderate heat coming from apartment 32. A bed was found to be on fire. It was extinguished and the third floor was ventilated. Crews remained on scene until 0915 hours.
6 Joplin Fire units and 18 Joplin Fire personnel responded as well as JPD and METS. There were no injuries on the scene.
The cause of the fire was ruled accidental, misuse of smoking material.
