SUBJECT:      Residential Structure Fire, 2421 S Florida Ave         

 

CONTACT:    Andy Nimmo, Deputy Fire Chief, Joplin Fire Department

 

On Wednesday, May 5, 2020, the Joplin Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire at 2421 S Florida Ave at 3:59 AM. The first crew arrived on scene at 4:04 AM and found a single-story wood frame residence with fire and smoke showing. Crews made an interior attack and found fire just inside the front door. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.  Howeverthere was moderate heat and smoke damage throughout the residence. The building had one occupant at the time of the fire who was able to escape in time. Crews remained until 6:20 AM.

 

The Joplin Fire Department responded with 6 units and 17 personnel. 

 

The Fire Department was assisted by METS Ambulance Service and the Joplin Police Department.

 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and was referred to the JPD.
