Structure Fire, 1201 S Iowa, Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1201 S Iowa, at 1945 hours Wednesday evening, 16 January. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 1949 hours to find a metal structure with smoke coming from the second floor windows. It was determined that the smoke was the result of overheating of the heat strips on the heating unit. Smoke was removed from the building and crews remained on scene until 2030 hours.
4 Joplin Fire units and 16 Joplin Fire personnel responded, along with JPD and METS. No one was injured on the scene.
The cause of the smoke was determined to be a fault in the heating unit.
