Structure Fire, 4224 S Wisconsin, Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 4224 W Wisconsin at 2147 hours Sunday evening, 30 December. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 2147 hours to find the occupants out of the house, reporting smoke and flames coming from the first floor laundry room of a two story residential structure. The fire was extinguished in the laundry room on the first floor, and in the 2nd floor bathroom where the fire had extended via the laundry chute. Crews remained on scene until 2324. Fire damage was contained to the two bathrooms with smoke throughout the house. Home ownership information is unavailable at this time.
5 Joplin Fire units and 18 Joplin Fire personnel responded, along with JPD and METS. No one was injured on the scene.
The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical, with the washing machine pig tail showing evidence of damage.
