The Joplin Police Department is announcing the closing of a turning lane at 4th and Geneva for “Black Friday”. The left turn lane to exit off of Geneva onto 4th will be closed starting later today and throughout the day on Friday. There will be cones showing that the lane is closed and a digital sign telling drivers that the “left turns are prohibited”, forcing drivers to make right turns only.
This lane closure is to help with traffic management and the flow of traffic to attempt to ease congestion. Corporal Dan Haskins of the Traffic Division states; “we want everyone to have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and a great shopping day this Friday. We ask that motorist pay extra attention this weekend while driving and to expect longer traffic delays especially in the shopping districts.”
Drivers are urged to use caution in these areas and may need to utilize alternate routes during this period. If you have any questions, please call the Engineering Department at 624-0820, ext. 584.
