[ARCHIVED] Hazardous Weather Potential for This Weekend

Hazards: A wintry mix of freezing drizzle, freezing rain, sleet, and snow is expected to develop late Friday night and Saturday and continue Saturday night before ending Sunday. Accumulating ice from less than one tenth to possibly two tenths of an inch is expected. A dusting of snow may also fall mainly across central Missouri.

Areas Impacted, Timing and Duration: Freezing drizzle will develop north to south late tonight into Saturday with the freezing line reaching the I-44 corridor prior to sunrise Saturday. Freezing rain will increase Saturday evening with a light wintry mix developing southward Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Impacts: Hazardous travel will develop with time and as early as late tonight especially on untreated and secondary roads. Travel issues will likely increase later Saturday and Saturday night as temperatures continue to fall. Significant impacts from ice accumulations other than travel conditions are expected.

Confidence: Confidence is high for a winter event but lower in regards to precipitation type and amounts. Please check back for future weather updates!
