SUBJECT:      Structure Fire at 1430 E Central

           

  • CONTACT:    Keith Stammer, Joplin Fire Department

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1430 East Central, on Sunday, 12 November, at 11:50 PM. The first crew arrived at 11:54 PM. On arrival fire personnel found a single-story residence with smoke showing from the eaves and flames venting from a back door. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, with smoke and flame damage throughout the house.  Crews remained on scene until 2:37 AM, Monday.

  • There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting crews. The homeowner, Steven Smith, was not home at the time of the fire and the house was otherwise unoccupied.
  • The Fire Department responded with 6 apparatus and 18 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service.
  • The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
