...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT SATURDAY... * TEMPERATURE...Afternoon air temperatures across much of the Missouri Ozarks and southeastern Kansas will warm into the mid and upper 90s through Saturday. These temperatures combined with abundant humidity will produce heat index values between 102 and 108 degrees for multiple days in a row across the warning area.
* IMPACTS...A prolonged period of hot weather can increase the risk of heat related illness, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The very young, the elderly, and those without access to air conditioning will be especially vulnerable. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. &&
