SUBJECT:      Structure Fire at 4419 W 28th

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1609 E Falcon St (Clean Uniforms), on Wednesday, 28 June, at 10:18 PM. The first crew arrived at 10:19 PM. On arrival fire personnel found heavy smoke and an active fire in a large metal building. The fire was in the center of the cleaning floor by the industrial washer and dryers. The facility fire alarm and sprinkler system were activated when crews arrived. Crews extinguished the fire and remained on scene until 11:48 PM.

• There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting crews. The building was unoccupied at the time.
• The Fire Department responded with 5 apparatus and 13 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service. Webb City FD aided via Mutual Aid.
• The cause of the fire was determined to be spontaneous combustion of rag materials.
