[ARCHIVED] Severe Weather Potential for Saturday, 27 May

To all:

Just got off the phone with the Springfield Office of the NWS, concerning Saturday’s weather. Here’s the skinny:

  • We have been upgraded to a moderate risk. Hail up to the size of baseballs and wind gusts up to 70 MPH.
  • Timing – 4 PM thru the Evening hours.
  • When storms develop, they will do so rapidly.
  • Tornado risk will have to be closely monitored. The risk is conditional and we won’t really know until sometime Saturday.

While this certainly has the potential for becoming a severe weather event, what makes it of special note is it being the holiday weekend with large numbers of people out and about. Please stay tuned to your fav weather source(s) and be prepared to move indoors – or even reschedule your outdoor event for Saturday evening.
