SUBJECT:      Structure Fire at 230 N Walnut

           

  • CONTACT:    Keith Stammer, Joplin Fire Department

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire (report of black smoke and heat coming from the laundry room) at 230 N Walnut, on Monday, 17 April, at 10:08 PM. The first crew arrived at 10:13 PM. On arrival fire personnel found light smoke coming from the soffit area of the structure. The home owner was outside and described the area of the fire.  Crews extinguished the fire, in an exterior stud wall, by 10:25 PM with damage limited to the laundry area.  Units remained on scene until 11:11 PM.

  • There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting crews.
  • The Fire Department responded with 5 apparatus and 14 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service.
  • The fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
