SUBJECT:      Structure Fire at 215 N. Sergeant

           

  • CONTACT:    James Furgerson, Fire Chief, Joplin Fire Department
  • The Joplin Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 215 N. Sergeant on Thursday, 01 December, at 5:01 PM. The first crew arrived at 5:06 PM and found a two-story multi family dwelling (Adele Apartments) with heavy smoke and fire coming from the second story. Fire crews made a quick attack on the fire and were able to confine the fire to the apartment of origin. The fire was brought under control at 5:22 PM and completely extinguished by 6:06 PM. Crews did primary and secondary searches of the apartment complex and found all residents were accounted for.
  • There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting crews.
  • The fire department responded with 7 apparatus and 20 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service.
  • The fire was investigated by the Joplin Fire Marshall. The cause of fire was determined to be combustibles left near an unattended stove.
