On Saturday, October 6, 2012, The Breathe Hope 5K will be starting at 8:00am. There are no street closures in the area but traffic should still use caution while traveling through this area. The race is to start at 24th Street and Harlem Avenue; heading east and turning left onto Empire Avenue; heading north then turning right onto 22nd Street; heading east along 22nd Street then turning right onto Wall Avenue; heading south and turning left onto 24th Street; heading west and turning right onto Pearl Avenue; heading north and turning left onto 23rd Street; heading west and turning onto Moffet Avenue; heading south and turning right onto 25th Street; heading west and turning right onto Jackson Avenue; heading north and turning left onto 22nd Street; heading west and turning left on Bird Avenue; heading south and turning right onto 24th Street; heading west and turning right onto Murphy Avenue; heading north and turning left onto 22nd Street; heading west and turning left onto Picher Avenue; heading south and turning right onto 25th Street; heading west and turning right onto Empire Avenue; heading north and turning left onto 24th Street; heading west to Harlem Avenue and the finish line. The run is expected to last till sometime around 10:00am.
On Saturday, October 6, 2012, MSSU is having their homecoming parade which is expected to start around 11:30am. The parade will be primarily on the MSSU campus but the route of the parade is as follows: The parade will begin at Mission Hills Drive; float lineup will take place on University Parkway; The parade will then proceed east on Newman Road to Southern View Drive, where it will turn south onto the campus; turn east onto University Parkway; proceed on the main campus road and continue on campus roads, ending between Leggett & Platt Athletic Center and Taylor Education.
On Sunday, October 7, 2012, Central Christian Center is hosting their annual “Round-Up” and is expected to last from 9:00am to 1:30pm. 5th Street is going to be closed from Pennsylvania to Main and Virginia Street is going to be closed from 4th Street to 6th Street.
Drivers are urged to use caution in these areas and will need to utilize alternate routes during this period.
