SUBJECT: Structure Fire at 3322 S. Finley

CONTACT: James Furgerson, Fire Chief, Joplin Fire Department

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3322 S Finley. The initial call came in at 7:16 PM and the first fire crews arrived at 7:21, and found a single story with basement single family dwelling with heavy smoke coming from the eaves and attic area. Crews initially went defensive and then transitioned to an interior attack and were able to quickly extinguish fire. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to civilians. The fire was brought under control at 7:46. Redings Mill Fire Department responded to the scene as well as Newton County Ambulance, and Joplin Police Department.

There were no injuries to firefighting crews.

The fire department responded to the structure fire with 6 apparatus and 16 personnel.

The fire appears to have started in the kitchen but the exact cause is still under investigation by the Joplin Fire Marshal.
