The Joplin Fire Department has rescinded the ban on outdoor burning effective this morning September 2, 2012. The City has received several inches of Rain over the last week which has reduced the danger of outdoor fires to a point which outdoor burning will once again be allowed.
Citizens are reminded that a permit must be obtained prior to performing an outdoor burn. Permits are available at any Fire Station, 7 days a week and from the Finance department on the 3rd floor of the Newman building at City hall during normal business hours.
Additionally residents are reminded that if a fire gets out of control they should call 911 as soon as possible so that the fire department can respond quickly and extinguish the fire.
