Structure Fire, 2911 W 14th, Joplin, MO.
The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 2911 W 14th at 4:24 AM. Friday, 18 September, 2015. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 4:27 AM to find a large two story apartment complex with nothing showing. Residents on scene stated they could smell smoke and hear a detector sounding. Upon investigation a fire crew found the correct apartment and forced the door, finding smoke and flames showing. The crew performed an interior attack and extinguished a small amount of fire on the second floor of the apartment. The fire was declared under control at 4:48 AM.
Crews remained on scene until 6:18 AM. Renter information is not currently available.
No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. 6 Joplin Fire units and 17 Joplin Fire personnel responded as well as JPD and METS.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
