Structure Fire, 913 S Louis Ave, Joplin, Mo.
The Joplin Fire Department responded at 10:20 PM on Friday, 09 January, to a report of an apartment fire at 913 S Louis Ave, Joplin. Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke showing from a two story apartment building. Crews quickly extinguished the fire in a garage and attic, declaring it under control at 11:09 PM. Crews remained on scene until 1:47 AM.
The apartments suffered major fire and water damage. No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire. The apartments are owned by Joe Hutchinson.
7 Fire units and 20 firefighters responded to the scene, as well as JPD, and METS. No one was injured on the scene.
The cause of the fire was ruled incendiary in nature. It remains under investigation by the Joplin Fire Marshall.
