The Joplin Police Department wants to make sure that the public is aware that the State of Missouri requires motorcycle operators to wear their helmets when operating a motorcycle.
House Bill 1655 which would have made it an option to wear a helmet if you were 21 years of age or older, did not pass into law.
Corporal Dan Haskins stated; “We have received several phone calls over the past few days regarding this bill, and I feel that it’s important for everyone to know that a DOT approved helmet is required to be worn in the State of Missouri when operating a motorcycle.” The failure of this bill was confirmed through State Representative Bill White’s office.
