Joe Becker Stadium was originally built in 1913. The original tenants were the Joplin Minors, a minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees where Whitey Herzog and Mickey Mantle played. Joe Becker Stadium has also hosted teams from Missouri Southern State University
, the Joplin Outlaws
collegiate summer team, and several other college and high school teams over the years.
In September of 2014 Joe Becker Stadium took on a $4.7 million reconstruction by Hanson Sports, Corner Greer Architects, and Crossland Construction. With the reconstruction, Joe Becker Stadium saw the installation of new lighting and stadium-style seating for spectators, suites, renovation of restrooms, locker rooms, and team dugouts, plus the addition of concession stands, merchandise sales space, and modern ticket booths. The stadium recently underwent a turf installation project as the infield now features SprintTurf playing surface.
Please note, dogs are not allowed inside the stadium.
