Economic Development
The City of Joplin collaborates with multiple area organizations for business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts, as well as workforce and entrepreneur development initiatives. Through a diversity of affiliations and relationships we aim to create a vital city and region by thoughtfully accommodating and growing business and industry and their supporting supply chains. The city has formal partnerships with the following economic development organizations:
Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce - The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce collaborates with business and industry to improve the economic prosperity and quality of life in the Joplin region; and to be the principal advocate for, and provider of services to, its business community. The core functions of the Chamber are to serve local business, improve livability, develop community leadership, and attract new talent and industry.
Downtown Joplin Alliance – The Downtown Joplin Alliance is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the revitalization of the downtown community as a thriving, safe and attractive center of art, history, enterprise, commerce, culture, residence, and entertainment. Downtown Joplin is host to many monthly, seasonal, and annual events designed to encourage community involvement and stimulate the local economy.
MOKAN Regional Economic Partnership - The MOKAN Regional Partnership collaborates and promotes the Joplin megaregion as an ideal intersection of commerce and community at the Crossroads of America's I-44/I-49/US-69 corridors promoting and marketing the seven-county region industries and opportunities.
Joplin Industrial Development Authority – The JIDA advocates for the land development, marketing, and management of the Crossroads Business Park and of Joplin-Webb City Industrial Parks. The also administer the issuance of industrial revenue bonds within the incorporated limits of the City of Joplin.
