The City of Joplin Wastewater Treatment crew provides treatment of sanitary sewage wastes via two publicly owned treatment facilities and perform services within various state and federal regulations. They provide laboratory tests and reports for wastes, services and maintains twenty-seven lift stations, and twenty-seven industrial permits throughout the City. Over 300 commercial FOG inspections are done per year and staff manages permits for 31 industries.
The Shoal Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) treats 6.5 million gallons per day, manages sludge production of over 2000 tons per year, and has a design flow of 7.2 million gallons per day.
The Turkey Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) treats 15 million gallons per day, manages over 2000 tons of sludge per year, and has a design flow of 15 million gallons per day.
