L.O.G.I.C. was assembled in response to the May 22, 2011 tornado in Joplin as a way to build better lines of communication between area grant seekers and writers and ultimately create more productive collaborations in accessing funds, both for recovery purposes and long-term operations and programming. Its name, L.O.G.I.C. or “League of Grant Writers Ingesting Coffee” came out of the original casual meeting title of “Coffee and Conversation for Grant writers”.
L.O.G.I.C. met for the first time in September 2011 and now has more than 35 members from 30+ area agencies. L.O.G.I.C. endeavor to continue the dialog between community grant seekers, encourage and mentor new grant writers and create new, stronger collaborations for funding opportunities. In addition to these goals, the group has identified data collection and publication as another primary function of the group.
Please note that the data contained in the following
charts and graphs does not give a full picture of how the tornado has affected the area of Joplin, Missouri but instead provides a snapshot of the initial data reported since the tornado.
