Know What to do if You're Scammed
Often times the citizens of Joplin are victimized by individuals over the internet either through eBay / PayPal scams or e-mail scams. Unfortunately, these suspects often live/operate outside the city limits of Joplin Missouri. The Joplin Police Department relies on assistance from other police entities to pursue these suspects.
Filing a Complaint
When a citizen fills out an internet complaint form the National White Collar Crime Center reviews those complaints and forwards a copy of the complaint to the law enforcement entity with the jurisdictional authority to assist with the criminal prosecution.
If a citizen believed he or she has observed on the internet an instance of child pornography or child exploitation, along with making a report to the Joplin Police Department, we would suggest the citizen also make a report to the Cyber Tipline.
