The Miracle of the Human Spirit
The Miracle of Human Spirit is not a cause, charity or mission but is a reality.
It is about the enormous outpouring of volunteers who have created and elevated the Spirit through their hours of effort and generosity. These actions have come without call -- volunteers from all walks of life, who just knew they had to be there for others. People from across our nation have participated through muscle, comfort from prayers and financial support. The work is just beginning and the process will take years.
All proceeds from the sale of the Joplin bracelet & Sing again T-shirt will go to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks Joplin Tornado First Response Fund. This fund will help residents, city, and businesses with immediate needs not covered by FEMA, SBA, or insurance. Bracelets are available at the Finance Pay Window at City Hall during normal business hours. Donations can also be made directly to Joplin Tornado First Response Fund (please copy & paste or type that name in the Program Box)
Sing Again
The song was written by Mark Laperle in Bedford, Virginia. In an email describing the song, Laperle said, "The story of devastation and loss from Joplin has not gone unnoticed. I have no doubt there are literally millions of Christians across America praying for you."
Upon hearing this song, City Manager Mark Rohr reached out to Laperle to thank him. "It is a truly a tribute to the people who have lost their lives and, and all those who have been affected by this disaster," he said. "I was personally moved and touched by this gesture of genuine care and concern for our City. I called Mark Laperle and gave my heartfelt thanks for reaching out to us and wanted to convey it to all of the citizens of Joplin."
