Council members to meet with residents at two upcoming events
July 9, 2010
Joplin City Council members will attend two upcoming events in the community as part of the summer’s City Hall in the Park program.
The public is invited to join Council members to cheer on the Joplin Outlaws on Saturday, July 17 at the Joplin Athletic Complex as part of the program that encourages interaction between City officials and Joplin citizens. The baseball game begins at 6 p.m. and admission is free. The Outlaws, a collegiate level baseball team, will face Mac-n-Seitz as their final home game. The Athletic Complex is located at 3301 West 1st Street, just west of Schifferdecker.
Residents attending the Third Thursday event on August 19th will have an opportunity to visit with Joplin Council members at Spiva Park at 4th and Main Street. City officials will greet residents in the park from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Third Thursdays is a Main Street Joplin project as a Discover Downtown Alliance initiative.
Introduced in 2005, the “City Hall in the Park” program provides an opportunity for the public to visit with City officials in a casual atmosphere. In the past, citizens enjoy this environment as it allows park activities for their children and family members while they discuss various city issues and projects.
