Skateboarding event set for Monday, June 21
June 18, 2010
The City of Joplin and American Ramp Company have partnered together to host the City’s first Go Skateboarding Day celebration. This free public event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 21 at Schifferdecker Park near the existing skate ramp, just west of the 4th Street Park entrance.
American Ramp Company will set up a street course for skaters to use in addition to the current mini-ramp at the Park. Food and drinks will be provided, as well as giveaways and prizes for skate contests.
Helmets will be required to skate. Citizens are invited to bring their board or BMX bike and come ride the ramps, or just come hang out and have a good time celebrating Go Skateboarding Day.
The first Go Skateboarding Day celebration was held in 2004, and has been celebrated around the world to promote the sport of skateboarding. The City plans to hold this event annually.
