Lane & street closures for Boomtown Days ½ Marathon & 5K run on June 12

In conjunction with the Boomtown Days Run committee, the City of Joplin reminds citizens that several road and/or lane closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. to approximately 12 noon during the race on Saturday, June 12.
The marathon begins and ends near Memorial Hall and follows a 13.5-mile route throughout the City. The 5K run follows a route near Main Street. Routes can be viewed at www.boomtownrun.com .
Please note that there will be various lane closures and heavy pedestrian traffic along several streets throughout the city. These include:
Joplin Avenue, from 2nd Street to 22nd Street
Wall Avenue, from 4th Street to 20th Street
West 2nd Street from Joplin Avenue to Sergeant Avenue
West 4th Street, from Sergeant Avenue to Schifferdecker Avenue
Schifferdecker Avenue, from 4th Street to 1st Street
South Tri State Road, from 1st Street to 7th Street (Hwy 66)
West 7th, west of Tri State Road (lane closures)
Country Club Road
West 26th Street, west of Schifferdecker Avenue
Schifferdecker Avenue, south of 26th Street
McClelland Boulevard, south of 32nd Street
Old 32nd Street, St. John’s Boulevard to McClelland Boulevard
St. John’s Boulevard, from 26th Street to Old 32nd Street
Picher Avenue, from 26th Street to 22nd Street
West 22nd Street from Picher Avenue to Joplin Avenue
Motorists are urged to use caution and may wish to seek alternate routes.
Committee members encourage citizens to cheer the runners as they pass and provide support as they complete the route. They also request that people along the route do not interact with runners by trying to provide water, etc. Committee members will be providing these types of amenities to the participants throughout the run.
