[ARCHIVED] NWS RED FLAG WARNING FOR LATE FRIDAY AM THROUGH EARLY PM

...RED FLAG WARNING FOR LATE FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH EARLY
FRIDAY EVENING...

.STRONG AND GUSTY SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP FRIDAY AS ARCTIC
HIGH PRESSURE DEPARTS THE REGION AND LOW PRESSURE STRENGTHENS
ACROSS ONTARIO. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS AT OR
ABOVE 40 MPH ARE EXPECTED FROM LATE FRIDAY MORNING INTO FRIDAY
EVENING.

MEANWHILE...VERY DRY LOW LEVELS WILL PERSIST AS THE AREA OF HIGH
PRESSURE CUTS OFF ANY RETURNING MOISTURE FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO.
EVEN THOUGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE RELATIVELY COOL FOR TYPICAL RED
FLAG CONDITIONS...DEW POINTS WILL STRUGGLE TO INCREASE INTO THE
SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO. THIS WILL RESULT IN AFTERNOON RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES IN THE 15 TO 25 PERCENT RANGE. FINER FUELS SUCH AS
PRAIRIE GRASSES WILL THEREFORE BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO RAPID FIRE GROWTH
POTENTIAL.
