City’s weekly briefing moving to Monday starting Monday, June 15

During the public health pandemic, the City has held regular briefings to provide important updates for news media and the general public. City officials will continue to hold this news conference, although we are moving the weekly briefing to Mondays, starting Monday, June 15. It will begin at 11 a.m. as in the past. The update will also be live streamed on the City’s Facebook page for public viewing.

As in previous sessions, City leaders will review current issues related to the response and recovery of the coronavirus situation in Joplin.  News reporters can expect to hear from Joplin Mayor Ryan Stanley, Health Director Dan Pekarek and City Manager Nick Edwards. Other City officials attend the briefing as needed to relay important information about their department’s programs and activities.

Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce President Toby Teeter is on the weekly schedule, and other community leaders may provide their organization’s updates as well during this time.

We encourage news media to use this opportunity to gain insight to various City and community announcements. Interviews with spokespersons can also be arranged following the announcement portion of the briefing.
