Library Receives Grant to Expand Workforce Development Resources

The Joplin Public Library recently announced plans to expand its workforce development collection following receipt of Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds awarded through the Institute of Museum and Library Services. LSTA grants are awarded and administered to Missouri libraries by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.

The $1,500 grant award will be used to purchase materials that will be added to the Library’s collection.  These additional resources will help ensure that residents have access to a well-rounded collection of workforce development resources that can improve job readiness skills.

“A strong and qualified workforce is central in creating healthy communities,” said Library Director Jeana Gockley. “By providing additional resources on topics like entrepreneurship, soft skill improvement and self-assessment we hope to increase employment opportunities for our patrons.”
